Station Open Day 2010

The annual station open day will be held on Saturday 12 June 2010. RNLI Lifeboat B727, Commander and Mrs Rodney Wells will be making her last appearance at the open day as the Station Lifeboat as after 13 years of reliable service she will be retired to the relief lifeboat fleet.

Through out the day, there will be rescue demonstrations were carried out in the river (depending on operational availability). Dungeness RNLI All Weather Lifeboat will be visiting the station where visitors can have a tour of the Lifeboat. During the day the Cinque Port Morris Men will be dancing and there will be music from the local group 'Black Briar'.

This year the RNLI Sea Safety officer will be on hand to check lifejackets and give general safety advice to the sailing / boating community. There will be food and refreshment, a raffle, tombola, bric-a-brac stall, and the souvenir shop will be open.

Richard Tollett, RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager at Rye Harbour RNLI Lifeboat, said: ‘This is a great chance to come and see what happens at the station. You can meet the crew, station personel and some members of the fundraising team.’

Steve Tollett, Chairman Rye Harbour RNLI Lifeboat Management Group, said: ‘This event is for the whole family, plus you can see the Cinque Port Morris Men dancing and get free Sea Safety advice.’
