Rye Harbour RNLI Lifeboat B-842 Hello Herbie launched to assist a broken down 6.5 meter yacht suffering from engine failure, approximately half a mile off the end of Rye Harbour entrance on Sunday 25 August at 2:43 pm.
Rye Harbour Lifeboat arrived alongside the casualty at 2:50 pm, where a member of the crew went aboard to secure a tow line. At 3 pm the casualty was taken in tow and returned to Rye Town and put back on her moorings.
Rye Harbour lifeboat B-842 left the casualty at 3:38 pm, arriving back at station at 3:50 pm.
Richard Tollett, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Rye Harbour RNLI Lifeboat Station said, ‘our volunteer crews train on a regular basis so that they are prepared for any situation. RNLI crews and lifeguards have saved over 140,000 lives since the RNLI was formed in 1824'.
